PLEASANT VALLEY - Alexander J. Prusi , 87,an area resident for over 25 years, died on June 15, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived on Staten Island.
Born on July 29, 1937 in Brooklyn, Alexander was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Paolotta) Prusi. He retired in 1999 from Howard Press after 37 years of service.
An avid fan of baseball, he was originally a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and more recently the NY Mets. Alexander was an advocate for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and spent many years as a volunteer. He enjoyed gardening, and worked at Stonecrop Gardens in Cold Spring for over 20 years.
On September 12, 1959 at St. Joseph Patron Church in Brooklyn, he married Iola ( Zambanini ) Prusi who survives at home after 67 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Mark Prusi of Poughquag ; his grandchildren, Richard DiCosta, Alexandra Rotger and her husband Jake; Jessica DiCosta, and Nicholas Prusi; and his great-grandchildren, Payton Rotger and Blakely Rotger.
In addition to his parents, Alexander was also predeceased by his daughter, Donna DiCosta.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 18th from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction . A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Thursday, June 19th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction .
