Alexander Streib, 71, a resident of LaGrangeville since 1987 and formerly of Harrison, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Sinferopol, Ukraine on July 28, 1939, he was the son of Ivan and Erna Streib, and the stepson of John Hopp. He was a 1959 graduate of Kingston High School and a 1964 graduate of Hunter College. Alexander was employed as a Systems Analyst for 35 years until his retirement from Warnaco in Milford, CT in 2001. He had also worked for IBM, Nestle, General Foods, Pepsico, American Can and Metro Media.
Alexander married Marguerite St. John in 1964 in Scarsdale. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Alexander J. Streib of White Plains; his grandson, Luke Tanga of San Diego, CA; his sisters, Lena Smith of Bellevue, WA, Lydia Coffey of St. Remy, Frieda Constant of Hurley and Trudi Hopp of Kingston; his brother, Edward Hopp of Kingston; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Marguerite Streib-Tanga on November 24, 2001 and his brother, Walter Streib.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
