Obituary

Alexander J. Votta, 75, of Long Lake for 20 years and formerly of Yonkers, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Yonkers on December 28, 1938, he was the son of Alexander G. and Anne Sutor Votta. Al proudly served our country in the US Navy and was employed as a firefighter with the City of Yonkers Fire Department for 31 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Long Lake Fire Department and enjoyed painting, NASCAR, football and hunting.
On June 19, 1965 in Yonkers, Alexander married Ellen Slovik who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughters, Andrea DeFino of Wappingers Falls and Suzanne Ehrichs and her husband Keith of Hopewell Junction; his sisters, Ann Mateer of East Northport and Adrienne Hochberg of Catskills; his brother, Alan Votta of FL; his grandchildren, Jessica DiLiddo, Jonathan DiLiddo and April Ehrichs; and his step-grandchildren, Megan LeDoux and her husband Brenton, and Kaitlyn Ehrichs.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home.
