August 19, 1928 – March 26, 2025
Alfred C. Polidore passed away on March 26, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center at the age of 96. He was born on August 19, 1928 in Yonkers, NY to the late Alfred and Mary (Frankolino) Polidore. On May 17, 1952, he married his beloved wife Anna (Rapa) Polidore at Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers, NY. They enjoyed many happy years together until Anna's death in 2003.
Alfred proudly served our country in the United States Army after enlisting right after high school. He worked as a Dockbuilder as a member of Local 1456. Throughout the years, he loved watching football, and was a volunteer coach at John Jay High School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School. His players lovingly referred to him as "Coach Al."
Over the years, Alfred accumulated over 30K volunteer hours at Castle Point VA. He was still volunteering up until a few months before his passing. He would donate his time for 4-5 days a week.
Alfred would do anything for his family or friends and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons: Alfred C. Polidore and his wife Carmella, and Anthony Polidore and his wife Debbie; his grandchildren: Rachelle Polidore Cole, and B.J., Travis, Danielle, Andrew, and Thomas Polidore; his great-grandchildren: Kylah, Koral, Haley, Hudson, Jace, Scarlette, Lincoln and Avery; and his daughter-in-law Sharon Polidore.
In addition to his wife Anna, Alfred was predeceased by their son Robert Polidore, and his sisters: Mary Polidore, Angie Vetrano, and Mildred Urezzio.
Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Wednesday, April 2nd from 9 - 11 am with a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
