Alfred Anthony Portella, Jr., of Beacon, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. He was 78 years old.
Born on July 18, 1947, in the Bronx, Alfred was the son of Alfred Anthony Portella, Sr. and Josephine (Filippelli) Portella. He dedicated many years of his career as a truck driver with Santiego Worldwide Moving in Valley Cottage, New York.
On April 5, 1965, he married the love of his life, Joyce Rozenburgh, in Yonkers, New York, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than six decades. Together they made their home in Wappingers Falls for over 24 years before settling in Beacon, where Joyce continues to reside.
Alfred had a lifelong passion for classic muscle cars. Alongside his brother, James, he spent countless hours restoring and rebuilding them, creating not only beautiful automobiles but cherished memories together. Above all else, Alfred's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He loved his children and grandchildren wholeheartedly and treasured every moment spent with them.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joyce, Alfred is survived by his son, Frederick Portella and his wife, Michele, of Yorktown Heights; his daughter, Desiree Couto, of Wappingers Falls; and his niece and nephew, Joanne Campbell and Christopher Campbell, whom he lovingly raised as his own. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Eric Portella, Michael Portella, John Couto, Jr., Gabriella Couto, Brandon Couto, and Jason Portella; his son-in-law, John Couto, Sr.; his sister, Maria Portella; and many loving nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Portella Campbell, and his brother, James Portella.
