Alfred R.Vitale, 62, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1980 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Friday, December 26, 2014.
Born in the Bronx on April 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Alfred and Carmella "Millie" Vitale. Alfred was employed as a carpenter/mechanic for Con Edison for 42 years until his retirement in 2014.
Alfred devoted his time to the community as an awesome East Fishkill Baseball, East Fishkill Roller Hockey, and Pop Warner Football coach. He will always be remembered by many for his dedication and passion for coaching our youth. He was also a former member of the Joe DiMaggio Lodge #2248, Sons of Italy. He was an avid Yankees, Giants, and Rangers fan, and also enjoyed remodeling his home and the homes of family members.
On March 9, 1974 in the Bronx, Alfred married his teenage sweetheart, Grace Marone. She survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Andrew Vitale and wife Kelli of Hopewell Junction, Shanna Vitale of Wallkill, and Jonathan Vitale and his fiancé Nikki Lowe of Winston Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Dylan, Aaron, Genna, and Ayden; his loving and caring brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Nicholas Vitale.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with a memorial service at 8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville.
