Alfredo M. Colosi

Alfredo M. Colosi, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY for the past 21 years, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 9, 2026. He was 90 years old.

Born on February 5, 1936, in Sicily, Italy, Alfredo was the son of the late Nunzio and Nicoletta (Mollura) Colosi. In 1954, he immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities while never forgetting the homeland he loved so dearly.

On March 27, 1971, he married the love of his life, Carmela (Musumeci), at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx, NY. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their family in the Bronx before relocating to Poughkeepsie 21 years ago.

Alfredo was a self-employed barber who learned his trade in Paris, France. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed the friendships he made throughout his many years behind the barber's chair.

Above all else, Alfredo cherished his family. Although he embraced his life in America, his heart always remained connected to his hometown of Gualtieri, Sicily. He looked forward to returning there whenever he could, where he proudly tended the land he owned, especially his beloved lemon and orange trees. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the town piazza, enjoying a cup of coffee while visiting with family and lifelong friends.

In addition to his beloved wife of 55 years, Carmela, Alfredo is survived by his loving children, Richard Colosi, Nicole Schirizzo and her husband, Michael, and Marianne Giordano and her husband, Joseph. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Anthony and Christopher Cusimano, Angelina, Julia, and Dominic Colosi, Alessandro and Leonardo Giordano, and Gianna and Michael Schirizzo Jr. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Phillip Musumeci and Joseph Musumeci and his wife, Carmen, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Alfredo was predeceased by his brothers, Natale Colosi and Santino Colosi.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff of Hudson Valley Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Alfredo, and to Erin from the Hyde Park Medical Closet for her kindness and support during his illness.

Memorial donations may be made in Alfredo's memory to Hudson Valley Hospice.

Family and friends may call on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 PM.
