EAST FISHKILL – Alice Heusinger, an area resident since 1969, and formerly of Yonkers, died on July 8, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Yonkers on December 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Catherine and Harold Davis. After graduating from Yonkers Schools, she graduated from Hunter College. In 1957, she married Richard Heusinger who predeceased her in 2005. She was also predeceased by her son Allen in 2023.
Alice taught in Yonkers Schools until moving to Dutchess County in 1969. She taught at Oak Grove Elementary School in Wappingers until her retirement in 1992.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Donna (Stephen) Critelli; and son James (Rose) Heusinger. Alice is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Stephen (Jenifer) Critelli, Lauren (Chris) Festa, Kevin (Deidre) Critelli, Joseph Heusinger, and Brian Heusinger. Alice was blessed to have 6 great-grandchildren, Logan, Bryn, Makenna, Garrett, Aubree and Harper. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Carol and Arlene; and a brother Daniel. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert.
Alice was a life member of DCPA, and served on the Wappingers Congress of Retired Teachers, Board of Directors. She enjoyed the joy brought by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved celebrating Christmas and reading.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery.
