Monticello - Alice Melissa Stuart, age 64, passed away at her home in Monticello, NY on February 9, 2022. She was born on April 7, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Marjorie (Browne) Stuart.
Alice obtained Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, where she graduated with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Her honors thesis on Roman law in the time of Christ helped her get her Doctorate from the University of Chicago. Like her Grandfather she studied abroad at Oxford University. She was a lawyer for the firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP. She was a member of the New York State Bar Association as well as the Florida Bar Association.
Alice truly had a passion for genealogy and that passion led her to become a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New York. She also had a special fondness and love of magic which led her to become a magician, and a life member of the Society of American Magicians. Alice was also a member of the Dragon Award Committee, which presents the Dragon award for excellence and teamwork in the performing art of stage magic. She was also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution – Beaverkill chapter.
Alice is survived by her siblings, Jane and Richard Stuart. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Marjorie Stuart.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 15th 9:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 1400 Route 52 Fishkill, NY 12524, with interment to follow at Drehersville Evangelical Cemetery in Drehersville, Pennsylvania. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc.
