Hopewell Junction – Ambrogio Domenico "Mico" Cannale, formerly of Eastchester and Tuckahoe, NY, died on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Columbia Presbyterian. He was 85 years old. Ambrogio, who everyone affectionately knew as "Mico," was the son of Salvatore and Nicolina (Suppa) Cannale. He first migrated from Italy to Argentina as a young teen. He worked hard for many years there. He then met and married the love of his life, Luisa ("Coca") and moved to New York in 1963. Luisa predeceased him in 1993. From the moment he arrived in New York, he continued to work hard so that his family had a happy and comfortable life – such as a beautiful house to call home and educations for all three children. Ambrogio proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1987. He worked as a Bricklayer mason for Mileto Construction Corporation, which he co-owned with his cousins. Besides being a hard worker, he enjoyed his hobbies of winemaking and carrying on the Old-World traditions and delicacies of soppressata, Italian sausage, roasted peppers, lupini beans, chimichurro, and who can forget? "i malengianne"! Ambrogio also loved tending to his award-worthy vegetable garden. Everyone knew about "Nonno's Garden"! Despite all his achievements and fruits of his labor, his greatest and proudest were his family and grandchildren. His happiest title was "Nonno." Ambrogio is survived by his son, Richard Cannale and his wife, Patricia of New Fairfield, CT; his daughter Anna Branquinho and her husband, Eddie of Fishkill, NY; his daughter-in-law, Joanne Cannale; and his grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Jose, Luisa, and Amber. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Alexander in 2021 and his siblings, Antonia (Zia Antonuzza) Ciccone, Rosina (Zia Rosina) Vardaro, Guiseppe (Zio Peppino) Cannale, and Teresa (Tia Teresa) Ferraro. He will be missed by all. He was the best father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend to all! Calling hours will be held Monday, December 27, 2021, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla. The safety and wellbeing of all visitors is most important to Mico's family. They would like this to be a small gathering for immediate family, immediate relatives, and close family friends. Masks will be required. For online tributes, you can visit Ambrogio's Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
