HOPEWELL JUNCTION- Amelia Murphy, affectionately known as Millie, a Hopewell Junction resident for over 30 years, formerly of New Rochelle and Freeport, died at home surrounded by family in Hopewell Junction on August 1, 2023. She was 90. Daughter of the late George and Sarah (Lamont) McGowan, she was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 23, 1933.

Amelia retired after 26 years of employment from Barclay's bank, in Manhattan. Amelia was a member of the East Fishkill Senior Center. She loved going to the casino, she loved playing the slot machines. Amelia also liked to play Bingo. She was beloved by all of her many animals.

She is survived by her daughter Jean (John) Murphy of Lagrangeville, NY; her son Greg Murphy of Florida; her daughter Nancy (Ray) Lovallo of Hopewell Junction, NY; her grandchildren, Richard (Tabetta) O'Keefe, Matthew Huff, Samuel Huff, Emily (Vinny) Debara, Caitlin Debara, David Beaupre; her great-grandchildren, Julia, Gianna, Jackson, Lincoln, Agatha; her sister Jean McGowan of London; her nieces & nephews in the United States, Scotland and Canada.

She is predeceased by her daughter Catherine Beaupre in 2019 as well as her seven siblings.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 4 at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Graveside will follow at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 5 at Hopewell Cemetery, 84 Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533
