Obituary

Mr. Amrik Singh Bhangu, 84, of Hopewell Junction, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Jalanpur, India on March 22, 1927, he was the son of Hardit Singh and Harnam Kaur.

After graduating college, he began his career by going into the army and then became a prominant farmer and village chief in Jalanpur. He came to the United States in 1989 and was employed as a Mental Health Assistant by New York State at Wassaic Developmental Center until his retirement in 1995. He became a proud US Citizen 1995. Amrik Singh's children are very grateful to him for teaching and enstilling in them his strong faith in God. He was a member of the Mid Hudson Sikh Cultural Society. He was also always very active and could often be seen riding his bike in the area.

Amrik Singh is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Angrez Kaur; his children, daughter Balbir K. Sandhu of Phoenix, AZ, son Amarjit S. Bhangu of Hopewell Junction, daughter Jasbir K. Kalirao of Wappingers Falls, son Chatar S. Bhangu of Hopewell Junction and son Jasvinder S. Bhangu of Hopewell Junction; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
