Andrew A. Pagnozzi, a resident of Deposit, NY since 1982, died at home on Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was 95.
Son of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppina D'Alessio Pagnozzi, he was born in Pannarano, Italy on June 17, 1918. At the age of 19, he immigrated to the United States in 1927 and settled in Brooklyn, and later moved to the Bronx. In 1944, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Andrew worked as a building superintendent in Manhattan for most of his life, retiring in 1980. He was a Life Member of the VFW Post #6609, Deposit, NY. An avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and maintaining his cherished vegetable garden.
On July 24, 1949, he married Bernadette Bastardi at Blessed Sacrament Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Pagnozzi survives at home.
Survivors include his daughter, Josephine Macera (Frank) of New Orleans, LA; son, Joseph Pagnozzi (Donna) of Bronx, NY; daughter, Lucy Pilla (Paul) of Fishkill, NY; son, Gerard Pagnozzi (Ellen) of Fishkill, NY; son, Andrew Pagnozzi, Jr. (Gail) of Pleasantville, NY; grandchildren, Joseph Pagnozzi (Michelle), Laurie Pagnozzi, Bernadette Pagnozzi, John Paul Pilla, Virginia Pilla, Andrea Pilla, Noelle Pagnozzi, Meagan Pagnozzi, Bonnie Pagnozzi, Andrew Pagnozzi III, and Chloe Pagnozzi; great-grandchildren, Dominick and Arianna; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Angelina Pagnozzi and Luisa Iavarone.
Whether he was a brother, a husband, a dad, a grandpa, a great-grandpa, an uncle, or a friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 4 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, NY. The U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors.
