Angelo Colacicco, 85, a lifelong area resident, died on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at home.
Born in Poughkeepsie on January 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria (Tiano) Colacicco. Angelo was a 1944 graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Poughkeepsie. He proudly served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
On October 24, 1954 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, Angelo married Irma Pataro Colacicco who predeceased him on March 30, 1993. He was employed by the US Post Office in Poughkeepsie for over 28 years until his retirement in 1984. During his retirement, he worked as a custodian at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie from 1984-2007. Angelo was a parishioner at St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie.
Angelo is survived by his son, Rev. Msgr. Gerardo Colacicco, Pastor, St. Joseph's Church, Millbrook; his daughter, Linda Colacicco of Poughkeepsie; his son, Michael Colacicco (Terri and Matthew); his daughter, JoAnn Morgan (Chuck); his grandchildren, Julia, Mark, Sarah, and Nicholas; his sister, Rosemary Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Sam, Frank, Joseph, and Louis Colacicco and his sister, Antoinette Case.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. The burial will be private at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
