Anita Schunzel, 84, passed away at home on Friday, June 16, 2017.
Daughter of the late Ernest and Anna (Glasser) Meyer, she was born in Frankfurt, Germany on May 1, 1933. Following World War II, she moved to the United States and pursued studying nursing. She became a Registered Nurse and served at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Anita was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lagrangeville.
She is survived by her husband, Manfred Schunzel, at home; and her son, Mark Schunzel (Olympia) of Poughkeepsie.
Honoring Anita's wishes, funeral services are private. Burial will be in Lagrangeville Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or Hudson Valley Hospice.
