Anna (Ann) Antoinette Hakim, 95, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. She lived in Fishkill prior to entering The Pines and for many years was a resident of Deer Park, Long Island and Brooklyn, New York. Ann will forever be remembered for the love, laughter and joy she brought to her family and friends. Ann was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother ("Nana"), great-grandmother ("GG") and friend who will be greatly missed.
Born July 18, 1916 in New York, NY, she was the son of Rosa (Festa) and Sabato Picariello. On Sept. 1, 1940, she married the love of her life, John Hakim. He predeceased her on March 4, 2004. Ann worked as a seamstress and enjoyed cooking, bingo and needlepoint.
Ann is survived by her sister, Josephine D'Ambra; her daughter, Barbara Ann and her husband, Vincent Picarello; her son, Lew Hakim; 6 grandchildren, Mark Picarello and his wife Doreen of Sterling, MA, Christine Eldridge and her husband James of Bellingham, MA, Sondra Pendergast and her husband Chris of Berlin, MA, Terri Harris and her husband Mike of Merrimack, NH, John Hakim and his wife Krista of Ponte Verde Beach, FL, Debra Mangone and her husband Chris of New York, NY; and 14 great-grandchildren, Justine, Gabby and Anthony Picarello, Jameson and Charlie Eldridge, Lucy, Claire, Grace and Sam Pendergast, Zach and Hannah Harris, Sophia and Dominick Hakim and Gianfranco Mangone. In addition to her husband, Ann was predeceased by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and her daughter-in-law, Ellie
Hakim.
Ann's family would like to extend their gratitude and love to the Pines 6th floor staff for the excellent and loving care they gave to Ann during her last 4 years on earth. Also we need to acknowledge the overwhelming support and love that the Hospice staff provided during Ann's last days. Words cannot express our deepest feelings for what you did for her.
Calling hours will be Monday, March 19, 2012 from 10am to 12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12:15pm at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by entombment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
