Ann Marie Mulvey, 85, an area resident since 1971 and formerly of the Bronx, died on November 27, 2024 at her home.
Born in Manhattan on March 30, 1939, she was the daughter of Francis Joseph and Margaret Mary (Stack) Mulvey. Ann graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and from New York University with her master's degree in Educational Psychology. Throughout her career, she had worked as a teacher for the New York City Board of Education, psychologist for St. Joseph's School for the Deaf and the Scarsdale Board of Education, principal for St. Simon Stock in the Bronx, and St. Augustine in Highland, and she also taught at Mercy College and Touro University. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the National Association of School Psychologists and the American Psychologists.
Ann was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church, and previously of St. Helena's Church. She was a fully professed member of the Pontifical Institute - Handmaids of Divine Mercy. She was always interested in helping senior citizens by distributing Holy Communion to the homebound at nursing homes and residences.
Ann is survived by her brother, Francis Mulvey and his wife Patricia; her niece, Mary Potter and her husband Rob; her nephews, Francis Mulvey and his fiancé Dawn and Thomas Mulvey and his wife Elizabeth; and her grand nieces and nephews, Mary Elizabeth Potter, James Mulvey, Katie Mulvey, Grace Mulvey and Reed Mulvey. She was predeceased by her grand nephew, Owen Mulvey.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
