Obituary

Anna Filo, 96, a resident of Stroudsburg, PA, died on Friday, September 4, 2015 in Pawling.

She was born Anna Korba on December 15, 1918 in Czechoslovakia. On June 7, 1941 in Yonkers, Anna married Andrew Filo, a World War II Veteran, who predeceased her on January 14, 2008. Together, they owned and operated the Anawanda Farms Restaurant in Somers for 35 years until retiring in 1994 when they relocated to Stroudsburg. She was a devoted wife and mother who worked hard all her life.

Anna is survived by her children, Daniel Andrew Filo, a Vietnam Veteran, of CA, Thomas John Filo of Yonkers, and Marisa Anna Filo and her husband John Funfgeld of LaGrangeville; and her grandsons, Zachary Coppola-Filo and Spencer Coppola-Filo. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her son, George Paul Filo, a Vietnam Veteran, on November 28, 2013.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Route 940 & Commerce Street, Mount Pocono, PA on Thursday at 10am followed by entombment in the Mountainview Mausoleum at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, PA.
