EAST FISHKILL - Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, Anna Joan Magnarella, passed away at the Hospice House in Hyde Park, NY on Friday, April 26, 2024. She was 85 years old.

Daughter of the late Alexander and Fannie (Ranali) Rinaldi, she was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 27th, 1938. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High school and has lived in Hopewell Junction since 1965.

She married Patrick P. Magnarella (aka, Pop and FaFa) almost 65 years ago. He survives at home with family supporting him during this difficult time.

Anna was the heart of our home and family. Affectionately known as "MeMe" to all of us, she was always focused on her family and friends. Many of her sons' friends say that Anna was like a second mother to them. She would give you the shirt off her back if it would help. When she wasn't with her family, she was with the Girls. They loved going to the casino. When they weren't at the casino, they were at the local churches and firehouses playing Bingo, or the local restaurants for their traditional lunchtime meet-ups. All else failed, they were on the phone. These moments, and so many more, gave her immense joy.

Anna worked as a lunch monitor at Wappingers Central School District for many years. She was also a secretary at IBM where her husband Patrick also worked.

Aside from her husband, Anna is also survived by her son Paul & his wife Lisa Magnarella of Poughkeepsie, NY; her son Patrick & his wife Christine of Cardiff by the Sea, California; her granddaughters Sarah & Pamela; her sister Theresa Mckenna;her nieces, Patricia (Patti) Doxsey and Lynn (Doxsey) Varuzzo; and her goddaughter Cheryl Swenson. Anna was predeceased by her brother Alexander Rinaldi; her stepfather Peter Weeks; her sister Patricia Doxsey; her niece Alison (Doxsey) Raymo; and her cousin Barbara Welsh.

Calling Hours will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 1st at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Rte 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A service will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
