Anna Maguire, 96, an eight year local area resident, formerly of Belle Harbor, the Bronx, and Philadelphia, died in Lorton, VA on Friday, August 27, 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Anna McCusker Fox. On September 14, 1940, Anna married Bernard Maguire at Nativity Church in Philadelphia. Mr. Maguire predeceased her in 1978.
For many years, she worked as a bank teller for Citibank in the Bronx. Most recently, she was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church in LaGrangeville.
Anna is survived by five children, Philip Maguire of Rockaway, Annarose Shinners (Michael) of Hopewell Junction, Bernard Maguire (Donnamarie) of Rockaway, Patrick Maguire (Lori) of Belle Harbor, and Mary Sullivan (Bruce) of Virginia; daughters-in-law Rosemary Maguire of Long Beach and Winnie Maguire of Mt. Kisco; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Eileen & Dennis Kieran as well as her brother and sister-in-law Philip & Albina Fox.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
