May 15, 1938 – March 26, 2026
Anne Hynes, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and community. She was born on May 15, 1938, in Milltown, Glenamoy, County Mayo, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick McDonnell and Ellen Healy, and the seventh of eight children in a close-knit and loving family.
In 1960, Anne emigrated to the United States, where she built a life defined by hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to her faith and Irish roots. During her life she worked for the United States Post Office and, alongside her beloved husband Brendan, operated "The Irish Center" for many years, creating a welcoming gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and community spirit. A tireless worker and lifelong learner, Anne was always eager to try new things, embrace new experiences, and grow. She modeled perseverance and a love of learning for her children, instilling in them the values of hard work, openness, and continual self-improvement that would guide them throughout their lives.
Anne married Brendan Hynes on October 8, 1966, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love and shared values. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and Anne's greatest joy was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
A woman of strong faith, Anne was an active member of St. Mary's Parish and the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a proud member of the Emerald Society, reflecting her enduring pride in her heritage and commitment to community.
Anne found happiness in simple pleasures-playing cards, especially 25, golf, and lively set dancing. Her joyful spirit, quick wit, and welcoming nature made her a beloved presence wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving children, Kerril (MaryAnn), Kathy, (Brian) Kenneth, and Deirdre; her treasured grandchildren, Caitlin (Dylan), Brendan, Mairéad, Aidan , Siobhan, James (Athina), William, Colin (Mychael), Owen, Shane, Grady, Teagan, and Saoirse ; and her greatgranchild Elizabeth, as well as her dear siblings, Michael and Sarah.
