HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Annie McHugh, 95, an area resident since 1994, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 20, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in Ballinamore, Leitrim, Ireland on August 8, 1929, Annie was the daughter of the late Bernard and Ellen (Mulvey) Quinn. She had been employed as a teacher by the New York City Board of Education until her retirement.

She was a devoted parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, and previously a parishioner of St. Brendan's Church in the Bronx. Along with her husband, she had been a former member of the Bedford Shamrock Club in the Bronx.

On June 25, 1955 in New York City, Annie married Michael McHugh who predeceased her in 2016 after 61 years of marriage. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Palma McHugh of PA, Bernadette McHugh and John Biroldi of Holly Springs, NC, Gerard "Gerry" McHugh of Somers, and Brian and Linda McHugh of Massapequa; her son-in-law, Thomas Moran of Hopewell Junction; her daughter-in-law, Eileen McHugh; her grandchildren, Thomas Moran, Alana Moran (David), Brendan Moran (Amanda), Luke Biroldi (Laura), Kara Biroldi (Jake), Michael McHugh, Matthew McHugh, Christina McHugh, Angela McHugh, Kayla McHugh, John McHugh and Kerry McHugh; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Nella, CJ, Teagan, and Sloan; her sister, Bernadette Lynch; and many other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was also predeceased by her daughter, Clare Moran in 2021.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27th from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, December 28th at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
