FISHKILL - Anthony DiScenza, 91, a resident of the Town of Fishkill since 2003, passed away on July 27, 2015 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He previously lived in Westchester County.
Born in the Bronx on October 7, 1923, he was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Mortillaro) DiScenza. Directly after high school, Anthony enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served as a pilot during WWII. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he worked, got married, and raised his family, all while attending school at night. His dedication earned him both a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from NYU, and he was employed as a Chemical Engineer until his retirement in 1991. Because of his love of flying, Anthony was also a pilot instructor and owned several small aircrafts.
On April 24, 1948 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Bronx, Anthony married Justine "Jo" (Guerra) DiScenza who survives at home. In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Anthony is survived by his loving children, Dr. Ronald DiScenza and his wife Barbara, and Catherine Pasqua and her husband Thomas of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Alexa, Dana, Dylan, Andrew , Jeffrey Pasqua and his wife Sarah of Manhattan, Cristin Robb and her husband Andrew of CT, and Jonathan Pasqua of Manhattan; and his great-granddaughter, Adriana Catherine Pasqua.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist's Church followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
