Anthony Facchiano, a two-year resident of Dutchess County, formerly of Rockland County and the Bronx, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. He was 85.
Son of the late Luigi and Gulia (Ferraro) Facchiano, he was born in the Bronx on April 18, 1930. He was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. In 1989, he retired as a postal clerk from the U.S. Postal Service, where he had been employed for more than 25 years. His hobbies included reading, walking, and he always enjoyed watching and betting on horse races.
On June 22, 1957, he married Rose Friscia at St. Angela Merici Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Facchiano survives at home.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include his daughter, Laura Stinziano & her husband John of Fishkill; his daughter, Susan Giordano of Florida; his son, Joseph Facchiano of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Dana Newton & her husband James, Christina Anselmo & her husband Justin, Michael Cherubini, Brandon Facchiano, Brett Facchiano, Kaila Facchiano, Christopher Stinziano, and Kyle Facchiano; his great-grandchildren, Kailey and James; his sister, Maggie Palmero; and his brother, Ralph Facchiano. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
Anthony was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Rizzo, Angelo Facchiano, Jimmy Facchiano, Suzie Finelli, and Millie Facchiano; and his son-in-law, Anthony Giordano.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 27th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 28th at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill.
