Obituary

Anthony James Palmieri, 82, a resident of Dutchess County for 25 years, died on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Yonkers on February 21, 1929, he was the son of Ferdinand and Anna D'Amato Palmieri. He served in the US Army 503rd Military Police at Fort Bragg during the Korean War and was a captain and catcher for the Army baseball team. Anthony was self-employed as a Trainer/Driver for the U.S. Trotting Association, as well as a life-long fine cabinet maker.
On February 13, 1954 in Yonkers, Anthony married Margaret Ann Tyrrell who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, Frederick Palmieri and his wife Lydia of Hopewell Junction, Robert Palmieri and his wife Nancy of Brewster and Mark Anthony Palmieri of Amenia; his grandsons, Dante, Adam, Robert and Maximus; his siblings, Patrick Palmieri of Pound Ridge and Philomena Peters of Montreal, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Palmieri.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
