Obituary

Anthony Romano, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 4, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 80 years old.

Born on September 13, 1945, in the Bronx, NY, Anthony was the son of the late Michele and Anna (Valentino) Romano. From a young age, he had a natural talent for working with his hands and an easygoing charm that made him beloved by all who knew him. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his character, discipline, and deep sense of patriotism.

On October 9, 1983, Anthony married the love of his life, Linda (Shultz), in the comfort of their home in Poughkeepsie. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless shared memories. Anthony worked for 43 years as a Maintenance Mechanic for BASF in Peekskill, NY, where he became known as the person who could fix anything and would help anyone.

Anthony found joy in the simple pleasures of life: peaceful days spent fishing, tinkering with D.I.Y. projects around the house, tending to his garden, cheering on his favorite murder-mystery heroes, and the fun of visiting the casino to play Roulette and Baccarat. But nothing brought him greater happiness than the time he spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a grandfather who absolutely adored his three grandchildren, each of whom brought immense pride and purpose to his life.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his son Christopher and his wife Melanie; his daughter Deanna Mandigo; and his beloved grandchildren Veronica, Alexis, and Shawn. He is also survived by his sister Rosetta McDougall, his brother Michael Romano and sister-in-law Mary Romano. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Marie Price and his brothers-in-law Paul Price and John MacDougall.

Anthony will be remembered for his steady presence, his gentle humor, and the way he could make anyone feel at ease. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he gave will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Mchoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533, with a service beginning in the funeral home at 3:30 pm.
