Anthony Charles Tsigonis died at the age of 92 on July 6, 2011 at Reading Hospital, Reading, PA.
Anthony was born on June 22, 1919 in the city of New York to Amy and Emmanuel Tsigonis. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann; his son, Robert and his wife Jean Tsigonis; daughter, Anita Malizzi and husband Curt; daughter, Diana Ponterio and husband Bert; and foster son, Tommy Miller and wife Monica. At various times, Anthony and Ann lived in Valhalla, Hopewell Junction, and Narvon, PA.
He leaves behind grandchildren, Abraham Tsigonis and wife Katie; Elizabeth, Abigail, Rebekah, and Noah Tsigonis; Alison Whitmoyer and husband Lee; Julie Stolzfus and husband Brandon; Joshua Malizzi and wife Tara; Megan Latta and husband David; Hannah and Beverly Ponterio; and great grandchildren, Isabel Tsigonis, Alexander, Jaden and Larissa Whitmoyer, Nicholas and Liana Stoltzfus, and Christian Malizzi; foster grandchildren, Thomas, Nicole, and Matthew Miller; as well as many loving relatives and friends. Anthony was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Wendt and granddaughter, Sarah Ponterio.
Anthony lived a life of faith in Jesus Christ and service to others. As a paratrooper in WWII, he was wounded three times and earned a bronze star and three purple hearts. Anthony was a long time member and chief of the Valhalla Volunteer Fire Dept. He could fix anything and would stop whatever he was doing at any time to help someone in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Anthony was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. We look forward to a grand reunion with him in heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held at Petra Christian Fellowship in New Holland, PA on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 7 PM. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until the time of service.
Viewing will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM with a funeral service at 8 PM. A graveside service will occur at St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11 AM.
