Armand Silvio, 95, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1965, died on Monday, March 10, 2014 at his home.
Born on June 24, 1918 in the Bronx, he was the son of Charles and Nancy Zodda Silvio. Armand proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II and was employed as an electrical engineer with IBM, East Fishkill until his retirement in 1986. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and a member of the East Fishkill Seniors, and liked visiting the East Fishkill Library. He enjoyed gardening, bicycling, walking, reading and especially swimming.
On July 29, 1951 at Our Lady of Victory Church in the Bronx, Armand married Mary Semenowitz who predeceased him on March 27, 2004. He is survived by his children, Carol Salyer and her husband Greg of the Town of Poughkeepsie, Elissa Silvio of Danbury, CT, Armand Silvio and his wife Wendy of Pleasant Valley, and Susan Williams of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Janine and Karl Greer, Sarah Williams, Jason Salyer and Stefanie Salyer; his great-grandchildren, Carolann and Marilynn Greer; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, John and Joseph Silvio; and his sister, Frances Nelson.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9:30-10:30am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
