ARMANDO NICHOLAS PALMESI
August 15, 1965- January 29, 2021

Armando Palmesi, 55, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Vassar Hospital.

Armando (Mondo) was born on August 15, 1965 at Mt. Kisco Hospital, in Mt Kisco, NY. He was the son of Albert Palmesi and Margaret Nicholson Palmesi (predeceased). He was baptized in St. Joseph's Church in Croton Falls, NY.

Mondo was born and raised in the hamlet of Croton Falls, NY in the town of North Salem, NY. He graduated from North Salem High School, NY.
Croton Falls is a small town where everyone knew everyone. He had many lifelong friends from his childhood, adulthood, as well as many friends from his many careers. Amongst them was Joe Bryson from Joe's Getty and his wife Ann Morley our adopted sister. He was well loved and respected by all.
He played baseball on St. Joseph's ball field. Albert was a catcher and their father, Albert Senior, was their team's coach.

For a brief time, Mondo was a volunteer fireman for Croton Falls Fire Company.

Mondo was a taxi driver in his parent's taxi business, AL's Taxi, in Croton Falls for many years. He also briefly owned his own limo service. Mondo worked as a security guard at Four Winds, Katonah, NY. He was a truck driver for the Gap, and Package Pavement trucking. He also did per Diem work as a delivery driver for Jacobson Pharmacy.

Mondo later took over the family business, AL's Car Service, in Croton Falls, from his brother Albert Palmesi, until he retired in 2017.

Mondo, during his retirement, was able to travel extensively with his wife Jeannette and their friends, Haydee and Dave. Too many to name but most special was Cabo San Lucas where they honeymooned and returned to often. They were able to travel to Europe, to Spain and Italy and were planning other Europe destinations. He was also able to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting his father's and Grandfather's (whom he is named after) birthplace of Frosinone, Italy.

Mondo lived mainly in the area in, Croton Falls, Putman County and finally settled in Duchess County with his wife Jeannette, and two step sons, Mike and Brian.

Mondo loved all sports, but he was an avid and loyal fan of the Giants, the Yankees and the Rangers. His go to music was rock and roll and he was a big fan of Ozzy Osborn. He liked to ride go-carts with Joe Bryson, and go fishing with his brother Albert, nephews Jimmy, Johnny and Mark. When he could, he'd go gambling with his brother Albert in Atlantic City. Mondo loved cars and was a great salesman. It's been said that he could sell ketchup to a woman in white gloves. He loved participating in demolition derby races at Middletown, NY and had won several trophies. Mondo loved motorcycles and that was a hobby he shared with his wife. Mondo spent much time with his recently deceased four-legged son Milo. The two were known to howl often together and shared a special bond. We will miss them dearly.

He was especially excited to be able to share with his sister Susan, in Cocoa Beach, Fla, his first night shuttle launch at night. He often commented that it was the biggest and brightest lighting up of the sky. Mondo loved spending time with his family. He particularly enjoyed sitting by the salt water pool at Steve and Joann's while Steve BBQed his famous ribs.

Mondo and his sister Monica cherished their time together, often having lunch, sharing a movie, and spending time together as she lived close by. Mondo enjoyed spending holidays with his niece Theresa, nephew Michael, and grand nieces and nephews. Monica's Christmas cookies were always a big hit for Mondo.

Mondo got a kick out of calling his sibs by the number of birth order. He was Number 5, the youngest. He was also an exceptional stepfather to Michael and Brian, always dedicated to helping them grow into loving young men. He was recently blessed with grandson Dominic and shined whenever they spent moments together.
Mondo leaves behind his step sons Michael Chitty and wife Evelyne, Brian Chitty and wife Emily, daughter Casaundra Stoner and husband Brian, and son Vincent Palmesi, grandchildren Mason, Emma, and Dominic, nieces and nephews, Theresa Wielgos and husband David, Michael Bleakley, Donald Bleakley Jr, Christopher Shagena , Mark Shagena , James and his wife Cassandra Anselmo, John and wife Candance Anselmo, grand nieces and nephews, Brian, Kristen, Kaileigh, Cameron, Nicholas, Ava, Hailey, Skyler, siblings, Monica Pickering, Joann and husband Steve Palumbo, Susan and husband Rob Burrows. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Albert Palmesi.

There will be a small service for immediate family and friends on Wednesday, February 10, from 4pm – 7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. McHoul Funeral Home will provide live streaming for the service, for your viewing.

This will be followed by a larger memorial service, a "Celebration of Life", at a later date TBD in his home town.
