Austin Anthony Caston , 20, died on May 3, 2026 at MidHudson Regional Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Kennesaw, GA on August 4, 2005, he was the beloved son of Matthew Caston and Melissa Branagan. Austin was a 2023 graduate of Cornwall High School and the BOCES Carpentry Program. At the age of 17, Austin joined the Carpenters' Union Local #279. He was looking forward to becoming a journeyman in the next year.

Austin loved to work! He enjoyed carpentry and working on cars. He could basically fix anything. An avid dog lover, he also liked playing basketball and building Legos . He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, godfather and friend.

In addition to his parents, Austin is survived by his sister, Sophia; brother, Jason; grandparents, Antonina Caston , and Sherrie and Jim Kirk; his aunts and uncles, Freddie and Angela Gibney, Hunter Caston, Jeffrey and Kathy Caston, Robert Plummer, Dan and Rebekah Vogel, Kyle and Regina Everett; his loved one, Bella Gomez and her caring mother Dinamarie Gomez; his godson Kai Decker; many loving cousins; and his dog, Roxie. Austin was predeceased by his grandfather, Harry Caston; his aunt, Tonia Gibney; and his uncle, Michael Gibney.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4pm-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10: 30am at Saint Thomas of Canterbury R.C. Church, 340 Hudson St, Cornwall on Hudson. Interment will follow in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery.
