Barbara Ann Bruce, 70, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1997 and formerly of Carmel, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Born in the Bronx on August 1, 1942, she was the daughter of John and Ann Hurley McKenna. She had been a pharmaceutical technician at the Putnam Hospital Center. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, LaGrangeville where she was a member of the Widows and Widowers Support Group. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of an Alzheimer's group.
Barbara is survived by her children, Carlton Bruce of Wappingers Falls, Karen Lynch and her husband Bill of Hopewell Junction, Debbie Kozlowski and her husband Joe of Nesconset, and Steve Bruce and his wife Suzanne of Carmel; her grandchildren, Connor, Lauren and Erin Lynch, Devin Bruce, Logan, Tyler and Ryleigh Kozlowski, Austin, Caleb and Violet Bruce; her sister, Cathleen Walsh of Brewster and Jeannie Fitzgerald of Mahopac; her brothers, John McKenna of Yonkers, Robert McKenna of Wilmington, NC and Eugene McKenna of Yonkers; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen McKenna.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12pm at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
