Barbara Goumas, 47, a ten year resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Island Park, Bayside, Queens died at her home on Sunday, January 31, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Manhattan on May 25, 1962, she was the daughter of Angelica Christy and the late Michael Cloutsis.  She received her Bachelor of Arts from the School of Visual Arts and was the owner and operator of A House is a Home Interior Design and Consulting.  She was a member of Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, Poughkeepsie and was very involved in fundraising for various cancer charities.

On July 23, 1995 at Panaghia Greek Orthodox Church in Island Park, Barbara married Peter Goumas who survives at home.  She is also survived by her son Michael Goumas, at home; her mother, Angelica Christy and her husband Tim of Fishkill; and also many loving family members and friends.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction.
