Lagrangeville – Barbara ("Bobbie") Bernice Griggs, age 98, passed away on June 25, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1924 in New York, NY to Reuben and Mabel (Crasdale) Bernard. She married the late Lieutenant Maurice T. Griggs (United States Army) in 1942.

Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Mayor's Office in the City of New York and was instrumental in the development of the New York City Department for the Aging. She was a gourmet cook, loved learning about the culinary arts, and attended classes at the Culinary Institute of America. She had a never ending curiosity for learning; and was an avid volunteer for many civic projects. She also enjoyed quilting. Her main passion in life was doting on her beloved husband Maurice (an eternal love -for sure). Barbara was also fiercely independent and wanted to remain that way for as long as possible. She was able to age in place with the help of her many valued and longstanding friendships and
connections.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Marcelline Lowery, son-in-law, George; daughter-in-law, Sandy Jeter, her loving grandchildren Monica, Robert, Kimmi and Monique, as well as great-grandchildren Darien, Kathryn, Robby, Sandra, Natasha and a host of other grand and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Dorothy Wade, niece Adrienne Wade White, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Barbara was pre-deceased by her husband Maurice T. Griggs in 1992 , their son Maurice, Jr. in 1991 and first grandson George Alvin Lowery, Jr. in 1977.
