EAST FISHKILL – Barbara Jean Lorenz, 82, an area resident for 31 years and formerly of Yonkers, died on July 2, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Yonkers on November 15, 1938, she was the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (McIntyre) Thompson. Barbara had worked as a medical assistant to Doctor Touger in Yonkers.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a best friend to all three of her girls and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed decorating her home, and she loved fashion.


On August 16, 1958 at St. Peter's Church in Yonkers, Barbara married Robert Lorenz, her partner and soulmate for 63 years. She is also survived by her daughters and their husbands, Dorine and John DeLuca of Hopewell Junction, Lisa Hutman and Richard Brinser of Milford, PA, Laura and James Ekman of Oswego; her grandchildren, John DeLuca and his fiancé Meaghan Hughes, Emilee Ekman, Hollee Hutman, Jamee Ekman, Kaylee Hutman and Bradee Ekman; her brother, James Thompson and his wife Karen; and her devoted cat, Suzie.


Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 8pm.
