Obituary

Barbara Ann Morra a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Carmel NY, on November 21, 2023 at the age of 82, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born on May 22, 1941 to Josephine Hyatt, Barbara spent her younger years in Manhattan with her sister, Jacqueline, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends nearby. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan and went on to work at IBM before getting married and raising a family.

She married her beloved husband, Michael N. Morra, on Dec 3, 1961. For 13 years they resided in Yonkers where they raised their four children. In 1978 they moved to North Salem NY, which they called home for more than 18 years.

Married for 62 years, she is survived by her husband Michael and her children and their spouses, Gregory (Michele) Morra of Hopewell Junction, Nicole (Michael) Leonard of Saratoga Springs, Melissa (Kevin) Lubbe of Southampton and her daughter in law Lynne Morra of Hopewell Junction.

Whether it be making the infamous 'egg and bread in a cup' for breakfast, taking them to the oceanside or just dancing around the living room with them, she will be forever missed by her sixteen grandchildren; Lauren, Nicholas, Grace, Sarah, Kristen, Jessica, Rachel, Douglas, Gabrielle, Michaela, Emily, Michael, Matthew, Laura, Katherine and Thomas. In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by her seven great- grandchildren Juliana, John, Nicholas, James, Madeline, Noah and Emilia; and her nieces Lori and Kim and nephew Anthony.

She is predeceased by her mother, Josephine (Calogero) Hyatt, her firstborn Douglas Morra, her sister and best friend Jacqueline Greco.

Barbara was strong, loyal and generous with an enormous heart. Opening her home to family members, offering companionship to those around her and caring for those she knew and loved. She was selfless, a protector and a role model, always offering her words of wisdom. She was clever and full of knowledge and an avid reader who had a bountiful collection of books.

To Barbara, family came above all else and her unconditional love and devotion was given in abundance to them and those lucky enough to meet her.

The family would like to thank Mom's caretaker, Sandra, who, for close to four years, provided compassion, care and love that went above and beyond. Words cannot fully express our appreciation. Our family is forever grateful.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 - 5:00pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10 am at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel NY.
