HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Barbara Ann Rooks, 75, passed away on October 28, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Detroit, MI on May 16, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (Balda) Buk. Barbara was raised in Michigan before moving to New York City at 21 years of age where she spent most of her adult life. In early 2000's, she began spending her weekends in Hopewell Junction. In recent years, she and her partner spent most of their time in Hopewell Junction.

Barbara retired as a comptroller in the ad agency industry in New York City after 50 years of service. She enjoyed knitting and reading.

Barbara is survived by her longtime partner, Joseph Paterno; her daughter, Dawna Rooks and her husband John Pieper; her grandchildren, Andrew and David; her sister, Donna Steinmetz; her nephews, Christopher Steinmetz and Douglas Buk and his wife Angie; and her niece, Kristi Lathers and her husband Rob.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Buk.

Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Saturday, November 9th from 12 - 1 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm.
