Barbara W. Roy

   Barbara Winifred Roy (née Wenzke), 70, of Hopewell Junction, New York, passed away in Hyde Park, New York, on October 24, 2026.
   Barbara was born in Mount Kisco, New York, on April 25, 1956. She grew up in Peekskill as the fifth of nine children. In 1972, while attending Walter Panas High School, she met the love of her life, Steven Roy. They have been inseparable soulmates since their first moment together, sharing a life of love and laughter and raising their daughters Adrienne and Stephanie in Hopewell Junction, NY.
   With a passion for photography and a home filled with art, Barbara selflessly gave of herself to everyone blessed to know her. The boxes of photographs in the Roy home, and the thousands of photos sent to friends and family over the decades, are a testament to one of the many ways Barbara shared her joy for life and love for those around her. She was beautiful and kind in every way imaginable. Her heart and home were always open to traveling or lost siblings and friends.
   Barbara loved animals and had many dogs, cats and other little creatures over the years. Her pets hit the jackpot.
   In her early years, Barbara worked for medical practices in Westchester County and later in the Marketing Department of the pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, in Connecticut.
   For the past twenty years, Barbara suffered from early onset Parkinson's Disease. Her condition was complicated and involved extensive medical care. Her bravery and perseverance through these trying times left those who loved and cared for her speechless.
   Barbara is survived by her husband Steven Roy and her adoring daughters Adrienne Roy (Layne Baranek) and Stephanie Roy, as well as the bliss of her life, her granddaughter Maeve Roy-Baranek. Barbara is also survived by her siblings Marie Wenzke, Jeannie Wenzke, Gerard (Caryl) Wenzke, Laura (Ricci) Gorgus, John (Michele) Wenzke and Robert (Helen) Wenzke, and her sister-in-law Diane Vourliotis. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Carroll and Winifred Wenzke, her brothers Carroll Wenzke and William Wenzke, and her in-laws Edgar and Lillian Roy. Barbara is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including Sophia Wenzke and Isabelle Wenzke with whom she spent much time with and had a special bond.
   In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Barbara's name to The Parkinsons Disease Support Group of the Mid-Hudson Valley (MidHudsonParkinsons.org); or the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinsons Research (MichaelJFox.org).
   Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 1-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a Funeral Service at 4pm. The Commital Service will be held on Friday at 1pm at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
