Barbara A. Sedlacek, a long-time resident of Fishkill, passed away peacefully at age 79 on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.

Barbara was a great and loving mom and a very proud grandmother. She was a strong Catholic woman and a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Fishkill. She graduated from Cathedral High School in New York City and worked for Dutchess County in Social Services until she retired. She was loved by all who met her for her kind, generous and loving heart and her great sense of humor.

Barbara is survived by her four children and their spouses: Susan and Michael Mohnach of Germantown, John Sedlacek of Hopewell Junction and his fiance Peggy Lawson of LaGrangeville, Diane and John Schumacher of San Diego, CA and Christopher and Maureen Sedlacek of Highland; and her four grandchildren, Christopher Schumacher, Rebecca and Danielle Sedlacek and the late Michael Mohnach.

The family will hold a celebration of her life at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill on Saturday at 10 am. All are welcome.
