Barbara Jean Straley, 75, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie since 1953 and formerly of Buffalo, NY and Pittsfield, MA, died on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Jacksonville, FL on September 24, 1935, she was the daughter of George and Irene Archey Hunt. Barbara was a former Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and reading.
On July 31, 1960, Barbara married Joseph F. Straley who predeceased her on February 28, 1983. She is survived by her son, Perry Straley and his wife Kathleen of Plainsboro, NJ; her daughter, Pamela Jean Straley of Poughkeepsie; her granddaughter, Emily Robin Straley of Plainsboro, NJ; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenny and Dolly Straley, Kerry and Marlene Straley, Charlie Straley and Gail Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
