Bart "Sandy" Michael Zagami, a local area resident for over 50 years, died at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Center in Manhattan on Sunday, August 5, 2012. He was 61.
Born in Brooklyn on December 21, 1950, he was the son of Bartolo and Angelina Sciarrino Zagami. He was known as Sandy by friends and family. Sandy was predeceased by his father in 2001.
For many years, Sandy owned and operated his own business, Precision Woodworking, where he made custom furniture and cabinets. He formerly owned Phase 2, an antique furniture and consignment business in Carmel for 20 years. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and was an active member of the Music Ministry at The Mission Church in Holmes. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Wingdale Golf Club. He also enjoyed bowling and had a passion for cars.
On May 14, 1977, Sandy married Barbara Boyea in Madrid, NY. Barbara survives at home.
Additional survivors include his mother, Angelina Zagami of Florida; his son, Daniel Zagami & his wife Sarah of Madagascar; his son, Michael Zagami & his wife Jackie of Hamilton, MA; his grandson, Orion Zagami of Madagascar; and his brothers, Anthony Zagami & his wife Carol and Gary Zagami, both of Florida.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, August 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10 at The Mission Church, 4101 Route 52, Holmes. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
