Obituary

On Saturday, October 16, 2021, God stood looking out over His garden and dispatched an angel to summon home his beloved daughter, Beatrice "Beatty" Johnson.

Beatrice Louise Henderson was born in Stormville, NY on March 8, 1924 to the late John and Virginia Henderson who came to East Fishkill from Virginia. Beatrice attended Gayhead School and completed her education in the Ossining School System when her family relocated. She was the oldest of three siblings that included Gilbert and Geraldine. Geraldine preceded her in death February 11, 2019.

She married Herbert Johnson, February 22, 1942, in Ossining, NY and moved in with Herbert's parents in East Fishkill.

Beatrice worked for Dr. Albert White's medical practice as his assistant. As the practice grew, she later was appointed office manager. Beatty, as so many knew her, worked with the Hopewell Medical Group for 33 years retiring in 1992.

Another of Beatty's favorite activities revolved around her church. She grew up in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and became a member in 1932, under Rev. Edward Brown. She held the following positions: Chairlady of the Trustees, Deaconess, Mother of the church, Sunday School teacher, member of the Pastor's Advisory Council, Bible Study Ministry, Mother's Board, Golden Agers, Choir, Missionary, Physical Fitness, Scholarship, Women United, and Culinary ministries. She was a member of the Central Hudson Baptist Association Women Auxiliary and the assistant treasurer for years. Mother Johnson has received numerous awards for her dedication and hard work. Mother Johnson was also a member of the East Fishkill Board of Elections, the Habitat for Humanity Board and the Christian Calendar Coordinators.

She leaves to share and cherish fond memories: a daughter, Gail D. Johnson; granddaughter, Erika (Brian) Bulluck and their sons, Ryan-Anthony & Bryson Bulluck; one brother, Gilbert (Betty) Wyche and their children, Gilbert II (Jessica) Wyche and family, Alicia (Ikenna) Okpareke and family; two nephews, Larry (Brenda) Johnson and Chester Cleveland; niece Lesley Cleveland; and very special friends, Susan Blodgett and Mary Jones; her Mt. Zion Church family and countless others.

Services will be held at 1:00pm this Friday October 22, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 10 South Green Haven Road, Stormville, NY. (www.mtzionstormville@frontier.com)
