HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Bela Hormann, 85, an area resident since 2000 and formerly of Mohegan Lake, died peacefully at his home on November 14, 2023.
Born in Hungary on October 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Bela and Berta (Wekerli) Hormann, Sr. Bela had been employed as a Tool and Die Maker for the High Tech Machine Shop in Mount Vernon.
Bela was a great handyman. He loved to tinker around his house, and he could fix just about anything. He enjoyed fishing and his favorite sport to watch was soccer.
On May 7, 1960 in Budapest, Hungary, Bela married Elizabeth Balla who predeceased him on January 24, 2023. He is survived by his daughter, Cristina Dorney-Zelensky and her husband John; and his grandson, Michael Dorney Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Friday November 17, 2023 from 10am-1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday November 18, 2023 at 11am at St. Denis Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or the Dutchess County SPCA.
