Obituary

FISHKILL – Benedict Andrew Boettcher, a Fishkill resident since 1963, died on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. He was 87.

Ben was born in Jersey City, NJ on January 16, 1932. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served throughout the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1955. He worked for I.B.M. at their East Fishkill facility for 27 years and retired as a senior engineer in 1992.

Ben was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. He loved sports, especially baseball, basketball, and football. He volunteered for many years coaching Fishkill Little League, St. Mary's CYO Basketball, and Pop Warner Football. He was also an avid reader.

On May 6, 1962, he married Joan B. Boettcher at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Orange, NJ. Joan survives at home in Fishkill.

Additional survivors include his son, Steven Boettcher & his wife Bonnie of Fishkill; his son, Drew Boettcher of Fishkill; his son, Gregg Boettcher of Hopewell Junction; his daughter, Laura Boettcher of Beacon; his daughter, Pam Allgauer & her husband Erik of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Shelby Boettcher, Tyler Boettcher, Evan Allgauer, and Erika Allgauer; his brothers, Richard Boettcher & his wife Dorothy and Joseph Frank; also many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
Ben was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Gorski), Harry Frank, and Andrew Boettcher.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. immediately following calling hours.
