WAPPINGERS FALLS – Bernard Thomas Korzekwinski, Sr., 86, died on January 2, 2022 at his daughter's home in Hampstead, NC.
Born in Queens on October 13, 1935, he was the son of Frank and Florence (Samodulski) Korzekwinski. Bernard proudly served our county in the US Army during the Korean War and retired from the US Coast Guard after being deployed to Iraq during Desert Storm. He had been employed as a Fire Marshall for FDNY for 28 years. He was a member of the VFW.
On September 24, 1966 in Queens, Bernard married Rita McMahon who predeceased him on March 2, 2008. He is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Maria Carrigan, Bernard and Jose Korzekwinski, Thomas and Regan Korzekwinski, Leigh Ann and Gregory O'Connor, James and Lana Korzekwinski; his grandchildren, Gina and Eric Vasquez, Nick Wingfeild, Gabriella and David Gunn, Eric Carrigan, Amanda Korzekwinski, Alec Korzekwinski, Sarah Korzekwinski, Thomas Korzekwinski Jr., Ryan Korzekwinski, Jason Wingfeild, Ryann Korzekwinski, April O'Connor and Zach; and his great-grandson, Gavyn Gunn.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery in Queens.
