Bernard H. Ranellone, a Hopewell Junction resident since 2006 and formerly from Mohegan Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, October 2, 2023. He was 95.

Son of the late Anthony and Florence (Edmundsen) Ranellone, he was born on June 4, 1928, and grew up on Park Hill in Yonkers. He met his future wife, Barbara as child.
In 1945, at 18 years old he joined the Army and served in Japan during the Occupation. After returning from the war he kept company with Barbara until they got married. On June 18, 1955, he married the love of his life Barbara (Conte) Ranellone at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers. In 1960 Bernard and Barbara relocated to Mohegan Lake, where they remained for 46 years. In 2006, he and his wife moved to Fishkill, where he was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church.

In 1951, Bernie became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He worked as an Operating Engineer for over 45 years until he retired in 1996.

He is survived by his two sons: Bernard Ranellone & his wife, Lucille DeRuvo and Michael Ranellone & his wife, Susan of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Jenna Russolello and her husband, Domenick and his grandson Michael Ranellone.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Joseph A. Ranellone.

Bernie had a heart of gold and was the definition of a family man. He was an incredible soul who loved everyone and made all feel valued and special. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a selfless person who always gave his time, knowledge and wonderful personality to everyone around him. He was a lifelong Yankees fan and also enjoyed following Notre Dame football. He loved animals, especially his Shelties. He also loved going on family vacation trips, especially to Key West where he could be with his family in the beautiful weather and spend time in the water.
