Bernice Vaughan Beairsto, 69, a Town of Wappinger resident since 1977, formerly of Yonkers, died at her son's home in Fishkill on Monday, April 23, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Yonkers on October 22, 1942, she was daughter of the late Howard and Catherine Bosakowski Vaughan. She graduated from Yonkers High School in 1960 and later received her Certificate of Dental Assistance from the Westchester School for Paraprofessionals.
For 23 years, Bernice was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 2003 as an L.S.M. Supervisor at the General Mail Facility in Newburgh. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and photography.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Laureen Treacy & her husband Michael Hind of Cortlandt Manor; her son, James Treacy & his wife Wen of Poughkeepsie; her son, Darren Treacy & his wife Kim of Fishkill; her daughter, Tara Treacy Orifici & her husband Dave of Pawling; her grandson, Kiran Treacy-Hind of Cortlandt Manor; and her former husband, James Treacy of Yonkers.
She was predeceased in death by her sister, Laura Trancynger.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A memorial service will begin at 8 p.m. immediately following calling hours.
