HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Bernice Lal, 96, died peacefully at home on November 12, 2020 surrounded by her family.

A native New Yorker, she was born in Manhattan on July 12, 1924 and settled in Yorktown before raising a family. She spent 25 years in Florida with her daughter before returning to New York 4 years ago.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Ranee Fromme and her husband Greg of Hopewell Junction; her son, Rajah Lal of Briarcliff; her grandchildren, Laina Hoti and her husband Nedzad, Austin Fromme, Rob Carlos and his wife Jean, and Tracey Carlos; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Hoti and Jaxson Hoti.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Moti Lal in 1965; her parents, Joseph and Helen (Sadio) Thomas; her daughter, Bano Carlos; and her son-in-law, Bob Carlos.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with a funeral service at 7:30 pm. Burial will be on Tuesday at 11:45 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
