Bertha Von Hoefen, 93, a resident of Union Vale since 2000 and formerly of Florida, died on January 19, 2010 at Ferncliff Nursing Home.

Born in New York on December 7, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John and Augusta Wallschlag. She had been employed by Reader's Digest in Pleasantville for 15 years until her retirement.

On November 16, 1935 in New York, she married Fred Von Hoefen who predeceased her in 1993.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mrazek and her husband, Steven; her grandchildren, Michelle, Steven, Connie and Robbie; and her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Joseph, Olivia and Steven. She was predeceased by her grandson, Sandy.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
