Bertha Augusta Lindblom, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Sky View Rehabilitation & Health Care in Croton-on-Hudson. She was 96.
Daughter of the late Gunnar and Alva (Blumkevist) Granbom, she was born in Stockholm, Sweden on September 28, 1918. When she was 12 years old, her family immigrated to the United States, where they initially lived in the Catskills. They later settled in the Bronx.
On December 19, 1937, she married Oscar Philip Lindblom in New York City. They remained in the Bronx, where they raised two daughters. In 1972, they moved to Dutchess County. Oscar predeceased her on March 14, 1998.
Bertha enjoyed many hobbies, including trips to Monticello and other casinos, playing Bingo, and antiquing. She loved animals and cherished many pets, especially her faithful cockapoo "Meaty". Above all else, she was devoted to her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Schrade & her husband Fred of Montrose; grandson, Andrew Tener & his wife Wendy of Nampa, ID; granddaughter, Julie Smith & her husband Steve of Wappingers Falls; grandson, Luke Schrade & his wife Juliana of Yorktown Heights; grandson, Joseph Schrade & his fiancé Laura Streckfuss of Montrose; and great-grandchilren, Philip & Olivia Tener and Lucas & Elena Schrade. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives & friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was also predeceased by her daughter, Evelyn Morgan in 2010, as well as her sister, Gertrude Olsson in 1980.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 10th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11th.
