Obituary

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Beth Miench, 68, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2012, died peacefully at home on July 3, 2021, surrounded by those she loved. She previously lived in Lake Peekskill.

Born in the Bronx on September 24, 1952, Beth was the daughter of the late Harold and Irene (McGuire) Everdell. She retired in 2013 after being employed for 25 years as a teacher's aide at Putnam Valley Elementary School.

Beth dedicated over 30 years to Volleyball, a sport she loved. She was inducted into the Section 1 Volleyball Hall Of Fame in 2019 as an official as well as being the director for the Putnam Valley Recreation Volleyball League for many years.

On June 24, 1972, in Putnam Valley, she married Peter R. Miench who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughters, Heather Miench of Fishkill and Kiersten Garrett and her husband David of Beacon; her grandchildren, Jack Garrett and Hadley Henkels; her sisters, Irene Reverri and her husband Herb, Sarah Madsen, and Heidi Everdell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother Harold Everdell Jr.

Beth graduated from Lakeland High School in 1970 and earned her Associate Degree from Rockland Community College, where she played on the softball team.

Most of all, Beth loved her family. She enjoyed traveling cross country, swimming in the Caribbean blues, and filling her adventurous "bucket list". She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who meant the world to her.
The family would like to thank all those who helped take care of Beth during her 3-year battle with cancer, including her long-time dear friends, and family members.

Funeral services will be private. Donations may be made in Beth's memory to Hudson Valley Hospice. Please visit her Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
